wow... this blogging thing is a lot harder to keep up with than i thought it would be. i hope to be better in the future when life "settles down" but let's be honest... i don't see life "settling down" anytime soon so i'll just do my best as time allows and that will have to be good enough for now.
the holidays have come & gone {i'll post more about that later} but for now want to update the house stuff.
{day 36}
Scot & Clay... oh how i love them!
the structure is in place and now comes the fun part! all of those late nights scot and i had working out the little details are proving to be worth it. in the last 3 weeks we now have drywall, exterior siding, kitchen cabinets & built-ins, and our stairs are starting to look like my vision... {almost}.
{day 39}
Chloe & i dancing in our kitchen!
{one of these days i'll get around to explaining the name of my blog}
{day 42}
drywall hung, taped & mudded entry
{day 50}
walls primed and ceiling painted {view from front door}
siding is {almost} complete... a few corrections need to be made on window trim and the obvious completion of the shakes and siding. it has been like this since before Christmas.... i'm growing impatient. we can't wait to see the finished product with the siding complete, stonework, and pillars. the builder also took off our door temporarily so that it won't get damaged.
{day 58}
first look at the kitchen cabinets!
family room... really love our built-ins!
of course something always has to go awry and unfortunately some of our custom modifications have left us with a few unfinished projects as shown below...
the stairs have a few issues going on...
1. the handrail angles do not match.
2. the stair risers should be white (not stained)
3. obviously missing a few banisters
here is a photo from when the hardwood floor was being installed. unfortunately I don't have a better photo because it is covered and protected now. but i absolutely LOVE our floors!
{6" wide plank walnut hand-scraped hardwood floors}
here is our exterior back of house...
originally we were scheduled to close this week but that has been pushed back another 2 weeks until january 27th... {maybe}. trying to be patient, and we are SO GRATEFUL to my parents for graciously letting us shack up here during this crazy transition... but we are so very ready to have a home again. i lie awake at night dreaming of how i'm going to organize my closets.... yes, i'm a little OCD that way, but i get giddy just thinking of everything having a place and having a place for everything. ;o)
this upcoming week should be a big week at the house... there are a lot of little details that need to be completed and i'm starting to get anxious.
so many thoughts running rampant through my mind right now... i have so much to update but need sleep. right now i'm wondering how in the world do all these bloggers have enough time to do this as fabulously as they do!?
